Abstract

Loud - speakers - In a loudspeaker of the Kind in which a conical or similar diaphragm connected by a pin to the vibrating part of a telephone receiver forms a lamp shade &c., the receiver is adjustably supported by the lamp holder &c., and means are provided for tensioning the diaphragm. In the form shown in Fig. 2, the receiver e is carried by hinged arms e mounted on the lamp socket f, and the periphery of the diaphragm a is provided with clips h connected by adjustable arms j. The diaphragm may be carried by a disc m, Fig. 3, supported on the pin b, and the diaphragm tensioned by means of a conical nut k. In this form the pin b is carried by a tripod q, the legs of which pass through slots in the disc m and are mounted on the cover of the receiver. The diaphragm may have the shape of a truncated cone or a shape generated by rotating a parabola semicircle or similar shape and may be of celluloid or the like and coloured or ornamented. Its thickness may diminish from the apex to the periphery.
