Abstract
247,524. Farbenfabriken vorm. F. Bayer & Co. Feb. 14, 1925, [Convention date]. Alkali hyposulphites. - Alkali hyposulphites (hydrosulphites) are obtained by treating alkali bisulphites with alkali amalgam, care being taken to prevent the accumulation of alkali sulphite beyond about 45 grammes per litre by withdrawing mother-liquor and replacing it with water and a salt. Specifications 176,344 and 247,523 are referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) includes an example in which a solution is employed containing sodium bisulphite, sodium chloride, sodium thiosulphate (a bye-product) and sodium hyposulphite; the sodium hyposulphite separates and is then dehydrated. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
