Abstract

106,493. Oman, E. May 13, 1916, [Convention date]. Lignine sulphonates and lignon sulphonates, contained in waste sulphite-cellulose lye, are separated by saturating the lye with a salt, such as sodium chloride and then heating to about 50--70‹ C.; the lignine sulphonates are thereby precipitated while the lignon sulphonates remain in solution. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) mentions sodium, potassium, or ammonium chloride or sulphate as precipitating- agents and is not confined to the above temperature conditions; the production of oxylignine and cxylignone by treating the lignine and lignon sulphonates respectively with caustic alkali is also described. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 20036/93, [Class 15, Bleaching &c.].
