247,283. Adamtchik, M., and Massera, G. Nov. 11, 1924. Skids.-The tread of a ski for landing on snow and its attachment to the axle journal are strengthened by a system of trusses. The ski is mounted by means of a metal casing 1 carried on the axle journal in place of a wheel and rigidly attached to a gusset 2 secured to one or more arms 3. The latter are bound at the sides to the longitudinal trusses by thin ply wood or sheet metal. As shown, two longitudinal trusses are provided each comprising longerons 5, 5', struts 6 and diagonals 7. They are secured to each other by means of stays 8. The whole system is rigidly secured to a tread 9 and is preferably provided with a stream lined metal casing 10 as described in Specification 224,589, secured to the upper edges of the longitudinal trusses. Fairings 11, 12 may also be provided for the members 1, 3.
