Moulding in situ.-A plastering-machine comprises a framework a adapted to run on rails parallel with the face of the wall' to be plastered and carrying telescopic uprights e, e<1>, and a carrier d slidable in the uprights e and adapted to carry a plaster container z which has a loose bottom w. The carrier is raised and lowered by a rope g passing over a pulley f at the top of the adjustable upright e<1> to a windlass h which may be hand operated. The spindle h is connected by a belt with a spindle k which carries a brake drum m and a barrel n. The brake drum is driven through a friction clutch from the spindle k and the barrel n is connected by a rope p with a shaft q mounted on a spindle on the carrier, so that as the carrier is raised and the brake is applied by a rod to the brake drum, a pinion r on the shaft q actuates a rack s and pushes the plaster from the receptacle on to the wall, the plaster being smoothed by a vertical plate u. On the descent of the carrier, the friction clutch is released and the rack drawn back. For plastering inclined walls or ceilings, the front of the frame may be raised by means of a lever 2 with screw adjustment at one end and a bearing roller 1 at the other end, Fig. 5. For use on ceilings, the framework is turned through a right-angle into a horizontal position on to a, carriage.
