Abstract

Gas eaits; cells; connections; separators.-The cover 5 of an accumulator is provided with a boss 6 in which is formed an aperture into which is screwed a hard rubber hollow plug 18. The plug has a milled head having a recess 19 on the underface to receive a packing washer. A conical teat 21 with a fine axial vent 22 projects from the head into the plug. The plug is preferably slightly conical and is provided with a sloping base 24 having a fine aperture 25 at its lowest point. The electrodes are provided with integral terminals 12, 13 having flanges 14 engaging the cover and tapered ends. 15 passing through it, the ends 15 being melted outside the cell to form contact caps 16. The container 4 may be of celluloid, vulcanized rubber or guttapercha and the cover 5 of pitch. The electrodes fit into recesses in an insulating sole-plate; they may be separated by corrugated plates of wood or vulcanite.
