Abstract
160,595. Green, J. H. Jan. 6, 1920. Cells.-An accumulator cell is provided with an inspection opening in the lid as shown at g in plan in Fig. 2, which can be closed by a plate h pivoted on one of the electrode lugs b<1>. The plate h is notched at h<1> to engage the other electrode lug and is provided with an opening i which coincides with the vent in the lid of the cell when the plate h is in the closed position. Instead of being pivoted to the lug b<1>, the plate h may be pivoted to an undercut portion of the nut b<2> on the lug b<1>, and the notch h<1> may engage an undercut portion of the nut a<2>. A filling hole f is provided in the lid of the cell. The opening g may also be used for filling or as an exit for liquid when the cell is being washed out.
