Abstract

Overwinding, preventing. - Lying snugly within the spring barrel a of a clock, gramophone. toy, or measuring instrument is a brake spring d the ends of which overlap. Hooked over the inner end of this spring is the outer end e of the driving spring c. When the latter is tensioned its hooked outer end pulls on the inner end of the brake spring and tightens the latter against the barrel and also presses radially against the outer end f of the brake spring. Immediately the driving spring is overwound the end e is drawn in, and the brake spring is loosened and slips on the inner surface of the barrel.
