Abstract

Flat-spiral springs.-With the object of obtaining more uniform driving effort and avoiding binding when tightly wound up, a sprial spring when free and fully released is wound as usual in an increasing convolute 1 for about half its length, the other half being in the form of a decreasing convolute 2. The end 3 is secured to the winding arbor and the inner layer of the decreasing convolute 2 which forms the final outer layer when the spring is wound up, is preferably of larger diameter than the barrel which encloses the wound spring.
