Abstract
246,717. Soc. Anon. des Anciens Etablissements Hotchkiss et Cie. March 24, 1925, [Convention date]. Machine guns.-A spring device for accelerating the action of automatic guns comprises a spring-pressed lever adapted to be engaged by the breech-member at the end of its rearward stroke, the spring being thereby compressed, and by its reaction accelerating the return of the breech-member. The device is shown applied to a gas-operated gun. At the end of the rearward stroke of the gas piston 1, a face 11 on the piston engages one arm 8 of a cranked lever 8, 9 whereby a spring composed of Belleville washers 17 is compressed. The profiles of the contacting surfaces are such that the point of application of the force approaches the axis 6 of the lever during the backward stroke, so that the spring resistance increases.
