Controlling doors by springs; checks.-For checking the opening movement of a door of an automobile a link pivotally attached at one end to an angle-plate on the inside of the door frame carries a slide at its other end which slides in a slotted plate on the upper edge of the door to compress a buffer spring secured in the inner end of the slot, as the door moves into its fullyopen position. The link g is pivoted at j to an angle-plate a secured to the frame above the door. and its other end is pivoted at j to a slider e which moves in a slotted plate c on the door. Fig. 4 shows the slider e compressing the spring q, which is positioned at the inner end of the slot by metal strips p, r. On the stud j connecting the slider with the bar g is a rubbing plate n pressed into the slide by a spring o.
