Abstract

245,934. Babcock & Wilcox, Ltd., (Babcock & Wilcox Co.). Jan. 10, 1925, Feedwater, heating. - The blow-down water from a boiler 3 passes through a coil 6 in a feedwater heater 7 into a collecting-main 13 to which steam is supplied from the low-pressure stage of the engine and the auxiliary machinery. The main may be supplied with boiler-steam through the reducing-valve 15. The steam and water pass from the main into a separator 18 and thence through successive evaporators 24, 25, 26 to a surface condenser 41. Feed-water from tho tank 58 is utilized as the cooling agent in the condenser and flows to the tank 46<1> from which it is pumped through the feedwater heater 48, economizer 4, and feedwater heater 7 to the boiler.
