Abstract

245,402. English Electric Co., Ltd., (Seewer, P. W.). Sept. 30, 1924. Stop-gear.-A centrifugal governor 10 controlling the pilot valve 6 of a servo-motor through a sliding member 21 and lever 5 has mounted on it an emergency centrifugal governor adapted to act on the member 21 when the speed passes beyond normal limits. The pivoted weights 231 actuate a spring-controlled disc 210 slidably mounted on the rotary casing 8 of the governor 10. Movement of the disc in either direction operates a piston valve 212, Fig. 5, having a screw-adjustment 218 to exhaust pressure fluid from a cylinder 224, Fig. 6, through the pipe 215. The spring 225 then forces the piston rod 223 against the end of the lever 5 whereby the servomotor is actuated to close the engine throttle valve. A valve (not shown) operated by a pushbutton cuts off the pipe 215 from the cplinder 224 when the engine is to be started. Specification 245,193, [Class 57, Governors &c.], is referred to.
