Abstract
244,511. Sen, P. K. Sept. 15, 1924. Alternating - current induction machines.- For improving the power factor of a squirrel-cage induction motor, a stationary condenser 7 is connected to brushes 6 bearing upon the rotor end - ring 5. The arrangement may be applied to both endrings, and the brushes of one ring may be staggered relatively to the brushes of the other ring. The brushes may be mounted so as to be angularly movable either individually or together. Fig. 3 shows a threephase system in which the brushes 6 are carried by a disc 8 supported on ball bearings 9 on the shaft 10. The condensers may be housed within a casing concentric with the rotor shaft, and the capacity may be adjusted by a switch member angularly movable about the rotor axis and arranged to vary the number of condenser plates in circuit.
