Abstract
641,732. Magnetic tests. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd. Sept. 5, 1947, No. 24479. [Class 37] [Also in Group XXXVIII] To measure eccentricity of a shaft two inductor units comprising A.C. energized stators 12, 14, 32, 34 co-operating with rotor discs 11, 31 mounted on the shaft near to and remote from the bearing, have their energizing coils connected in a bridge circuit whereby lift of the shaft causes identical changes in both sides of the bridge, and any out of balance is due to eccentricity alone. Alternatively one stator say 14, 34 of each unit may be replaced by a fixed inductance, or the stators may cooperate with a magnetic shaft instead of the discs 11, 31.
