Abstract
244,305. Schõfer, C. March 11, 1925. Sounding-apparatus.-In apparatus, particularly for use on fishing vessels, for indicating the approach of shallow water, and of the kind having a pivoted feeler depending into the water in front of the ship, the lower end of the feeler is made buoyant. The apparatus comprises girders a pivoted on the ship and connected at their outer ends by a support h to which is pivoted the feeler consisting of spars e connected together at their lower ends by a buoyant member d. The spars have upward projections connected by ropes g to a winch. The winch may carry a switch adapted to operate a motor for winding up the fishing-net when the spars e are deflected upwardly.
