Abstract
242,828. Ekman, S. S. Jan. 20, 1925. Dynamometers, rotary-absorption.-In the type comprising a vaned rotor and relatively-stationary casing with a common annular chamber containing the circulating liquid, an annular wall is provided. in this chamber in order to guide the liquid. In the channelled rim '6 of the rotor is arranged a peripheral semi-circular wall 7 supported by the curved and twisted vanes 8 and a similar wall supported by vanes 20 is provided in the casing 13. As illustrated in Fig. 2, the leading and following edges of the vanes are not co-planar and the mutual angles between the vanes of the rotor and casing differ on the two sides of the medial line A, B, Fig. 1. The liquid is renewable through a pipe 31, plates 45, 46 being arranged as shown to prevent splash. The liquid enters by way of a duct 30 formed in a thickened vane and leaves through the circular channel 35, duct 36, chamber 37 and an outlet 39 formed in the end cover 14 of the casing. A hole 34 allows the casing to drain when the apparatus is at rest. Grease cups 49 and ducts 47 provide for lubrication of the rotor shaft 1 and access of liquid thereto is prevented by drain channels 51, 52.
