Spring wheels.-An outer rigid rim 7, carried by a pneumatic tube 5 seated on an inner rim 4 formed on the wheel body, is linked to the wheel body by means of spaced laver devices each of which comprises arms 12 fitted to the underside of the rim 4 and carrying a pair of parallel crossbolts 14, as shown in Fig. 3, the bolts 14 lying in the plane of the wheel and slidably carrying a block 15. Levers 17, pivoted on a loose ring 9 carried by the rim 7 are each formed with a pin 18, the journaled part 19 of which fits a bored hole 16 in the block 15. A pin 22 on the lever 17 carries a rod 24 which is similarly fixed to a diametrically opposed lever device carried on the ring 9. An enclosing disc 33 may be bolted to the ring 9, and oil-ways may be formed in the lever 17. The 'rim 7 is supported from the loose ring 9 by a channel piece 8, a disc 36, bolted to the other side of the rim 7, being adapted to slide on a centrally disposed spring-pressed disc 40. The rim 7 may be fitted with an annular concave part adapted to bear against the pneumatic tube 5. In operation, the sliding of the blocks 15 on the bolts 14 allows free motion of the wheel, the inextensibility of the rod 24 preventing the rim 7 from over-running the wheel body.
