Abstract

161,729. Highfield, C. F. Jan. 26, 1920. Slipping-preventing attachments to wheels.-A series of rods 19, which may be fitted with shoes 36 adapted to bear on the tyre E, are projected through a ring 6 fitted at the side of the wheel-rim D by springs 27 bearing at their inner ends against blocks 21 on the rods. The blocks are swivelled on arms 23 pivoted on a collar 30 which is adjustable along the hub-sleeve H for placing the rods 19 in operative or inoperative position. In the form shown, the collar 30 is carried by a nut 28 threaded on the sleeve H. In a modification, the collar is carried on a sliding ring controlled by a lever. The sleeve H is formed with a flange G for attachment to the hub F, and with a flange L through perforations 25 in which the inner ends of the rods 19 are guided. The inward and outward movements of the rods are limited by stop-pins d and nuts 26 respectively.
