Abstract

242,130. Renwick & Bertelli, Ltd., and Renwick, W. S. Feb. 3, 1925. Securing toothed and chain wheels, pulleys, collars, &c. on shafts; retaining together machine elements for free relative rotation.-Radiallydivided toothed or chain wheels, collars, pulleys, &c. are secured loosely or fixedly on shafts to prevent their endwise movement by a spring ring 7 of circular or other section engaging a V, semi-circular, or other groove 6 in the shaft 2 and engaged on opposite sides by chamfered faces 8 formed on two of the parts of the wheel &c. at a radial division therein. The parts may be individual wheels, as on the lavshaft of a variable-speed gear, or may be wheels and securing or spacing plates, &c., all the parts being secured together by bolts 5 &c. A ring may be placed at each of two or more divisions. A key 9 or other means may be used to secure the parts to the shaft for the transmission of rotation.
