240,289. Farrelly, M. M., and Wilkins, A. Sept. 15, 1924. Capsules and like closures.- Bottles, preserving jars &c. are closed by a stopper formed of a ductile and malleable metal or alloy such as aluminium but sufficiently strong to resist any internal gaseous pressure and any ordinary impacts to which it may be subjected. An inwardly extending ridge on the stopper A is adapted to fit into an annular groove E on the vessel and downwardly extending cars D, which lie close to the neck and by which the stopper' is removed, are adapted to be gripped by the finger and thumb to distort the stopper from its affixed shape, the distortion being a temporary one so that the stopper may again be pressed into position on the vessel.
