Abstract
240,140. Revivo Battery Corporation, (Assignees of Csanyi, H.). Sept. 17, 1924, [Convention date]. Electrodes.-The manganese depolarizer of a dry cell contains the chloride of a tri-valent metal which reacts with the ammonia liberated during the working of the cell. The additional substance may consist of the chloride of aluminium, chromium or cerium. Fig. 1 shows a cell having a zinc container 1 covered with coal tar and a paper envelope 3 and containing an electrolyte 8 and a carbon electrode 4 and depolarizer 6 consisting of carbon, graphite, manganese hydroxide. manganese dioxide, ammonium chloride and chloride of aluminium, chromium or cerium. The depolarizer is enclosed in a cheese cloth wrapper 7 the ends 11 of which are pasted or otherwise secured to the carbon electrode 4 which is held centrally in the cell by discs 5. The cell can be re-charged like a storage battery.
