Abstract
163,317. Burgess Battery Co., (Assignees of Schulte, W. B.). May 15, 1920, [Convention date]. Electrodes.-A carbon electrode with its manganese depolarizer 3 is surrounded by a paper or other porous envelope 4 which is secured to the depolarizer by an adhesive such as a one per cent solution of arrowroot in boiling water. The bottom 6 of the electrode may be dipped in paraffin. When dry, the electrode is placed in a zinc container with an intervening paste of zinc chloride, ammonium chloride, water and a cereal such as corn starch as described in Specification 128,332. Specification 163,318 also is referred to. The Specification, as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), states that the adhesive may be applied to the depolarizer or to both the depolarizer and surrounding envelope, and that the envelope may be impregnated with a substance on which zinc chloride will act to render the envelope more porous. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
