Stuffing-boxes &c.-In packing of the type comprising flexible baffle rings adapted to be deflected by the fluid pressure to reduce the clearance, the baffle rings are made of thin metal with radial or inclined slits. Preferably two or more rings x<3>, x<4> are superposed the slits being arranged to break joint. The ring x<3> nearer the high pressure is preferably thinner than the backing ring x<4>. The baffle ring may pack against a radial collar or against the shaft.
