Kinematograph apparatus.-In apparatus comprising a rotary member which carries the intermittent sprocket and a Maltese cross mechanism, and is rotatable to adjust the picture masking, the shaft operated by hand to effect the adjustment carries two gear wheels, one of which moves the rotary member and the other adjusts a movable member outside the rotary member to preserve synchronism between the shutter and the feed mechanism. The shutter shaft f<1> carries a wheel m<1> driven by the shaft J, the wheel being rotatably loose on the shaft and having a hub M provided with a nose m<2> engaging in a helical groove in a sleeve N. A nose f<3> is also provided on the shaft f<1> and engages in an axially extending groove in the sleeve N. The sleeve N is surrounded bv a socket P which is non-rotatable but is axially movable by means of a pinion q<1> on the shaft q<2> and a rack p<1>. Movement of the socket P by the shaft q<2> during adjustment of the masking, produces axial displacement of the sleeve N, with consequent relative angular displacement between the wheel m<1> and the shut. ter shaft f<1>.
