Abstract
238,694. Baldwin, R. Aug. 14, 1924. Platform load - handling machines; jacks.-An appliance for transferring heavy loads in workshops &c. comprises a frame 1 supported at its end on screw-jacks 3 the bases 6 of which are rotatably mounted in supports 7 with perforations 5 for rotating the jack by means of a tommy-bar. The frame carries a screw 10 having a nut-member 12 on which is rotatably mounted the load carrying platform 13. The load can be traversed along the appliance by means of the screw-and-nut mechanism 10, 12. A further traverse can be effected by raising the load by means of the jack at that end of the appliance and then swinging the frame through 180‹ by using that' jack as a pivot and again traversing the load along the screw. Two appliances can be used end to end and the load transferred from one to the other. The load carrying platform may be in the form of a jack 14, Fig. 3, having a rotatable head 15.
