Abstract

615,281. Vehicle fittings for loading and unloading. ALVIS, Ltd., and KEMP, A. July 30, 1946, No. 22646. [Classes 78 (iii) and 78 (iv)] Loading means for a truck comprises a pillar 22 pivotally mounted at one side of the truck to extend vertically or horizontally, and a loading platform 16, 17 mounted on a support 19 movable along and round the pillar. The pillar is fixedly mounted in the bridge part 24 of a U-shaped bracket having its upper ends pivotally mounted on a horizontal axis 26 between brackets 25 fast with the truck frame 12. The support member 19 able to traverse along and rotate around the pillar 22, has pivotally mounted to it on an axis 18 transverse to that of the pillar 22, an L-shaped platform member 17-16. The movements of the support member 19 along the pillar 22 and of the pillar about the axis 26 are by power operation. Rotation of the support member 19 relative to the pillar 22 and of the platform 17-16 relative to the support member 19 are by hand, means being provided for clamping the members in any position. The platform 16, 17 is normally loaded in the position 16b in Fig. 3, and after raising the platform 16 the load is transferred to the vehicle platform by rotating the platform 16, 17 about the pillar 22 before lowering it or by lowering the pillar about the axis 26, after which the platform may be rotated about the axis 18.
