Abstract

237,320. Lefebure, V. Feb. 6, 1924. Coating processes.-A process of making material for covering walls and like surfaces consists in applying a plastic mass composed of a synthetic resin or other plastic substance which is rendered hard and infusible by heat treatment, filling materials, and optionally colouring-materials to a backing layer of asbestos-cement or like material, and applying heat with or without pressure to harden the composition. The surface may be grained or otherwise ornamented by known methods. A liquid wash of synthetic resin, with or without fillers, may be applied to the backing before the plastic mass is superimposed thereon. A suitable synthetic resin composition consists of 6 lb. of synthetic resin, 4 lb. of woodmeal, 2 ¢ lb. of calcium sulphate, and 1¢ lb. of chrome green pigment.
