Abstract
237,279. Loffler, S. July 18, 1924, [Convention date]. Indicators actuated by floats.-A liquid level indicator applicable to high pressure steam boilers comprises a float connected by flexible means to a counterweight which is adapted to vary the inductance of an electric circuit and thus indicate the Level. A vessel 1 connected to the boiler contains a float 3 connected by a wire 5 to an iron counterweight 6 suspended in a fluid which is kept cool by a jacket 8. The weight 6 moves within two coils 9, 10 connected to an alternating current generator 11 through two crossed coils 18, 19 in the field of an electromagnet 20 which is energized by the generator 11. The movement of the weight 6 varies the relative inductance of the coils 9, 10, which causes an angular movement of the coils 18, 19. The movement is transmitted to a pointer 22. The float 3 may contain some water, so that the internal pressure approximately follows the external. Specification 224,881 is referred to.
