Abstract

218,405. Swinscoe, W. April 14, 1923. Indicators, alarm and signal.-A liquidlevel indicator comprises a plunger, rod, or the like controlled bv a coiled spring and connected to a float which, when engaged or lifted by the rising liquid, allows the spring to raise the plunger, rod, or the like so that it operates a warming device. The float 1, Fig. 1, is suspended by a rod 2 and chain 3 from a plunger 4, Fig. 4, which works in a casing 5 against a spring 7. The top 8 of the casing is insulated from the body 5 and each is connected by wires 14, 11, forming part of an electric bell circuit. When the vessel 15 is nearly full of liquid the float 1 is raised and, the spring 7 relieved of its weight so that the plunger 4 makes electrical contact with the cover 8 and completes the bell circuit. The plunger 4 may make contact between two spring leaves forming part of the electric circuit or may operate a trip gear of a mechanically operated bell.
