236,669. British United Shoe Machinery Co., Ltd., (United Shoe Machinery Corporation). April 14, 1924. Wheels.-A rotary scouring or finishing wheel or roll comprises a two-part body 32 with a hinge 34 mounted on supports comprising flanges 12, 14 and hubs 16, 18 which are adjustably secured to a shaft 10 by screws 20. The flanges have therein closed slots comprising cam portions 24 and portions 26, 28 concentric with the hinge 34, and engaging the slots are pins 38, 40 carried by the parts of the body; upon relative rotation of the body and the supports, the slots serve either to close or to open the body, abrasive material being retained thereon by spikes 36. The hubs have engaging shoulders 22, so that upon axial movement of a support to accommodate a body of different width, the relative circumferential disposition of the flanges is not disturbed.
