Abstract

Valves controlled by pilot or relay valves.-A valve device for controlling the mixture of two fluids and particularly applicable to controlling the supplies of gas and air to gas-fired furnaces in large scale industrial oscillations has a valve in one or both conduit actuated by a power device supplied from an independent source and under the control of a relay subject to the pressures existing in the two conduits. In the form shown in the Figures, the gas conduit is provided with a manually-actuated valve b<1> and the air conduit has a valve a<1> connected by an arm a<2>, lever a<3>, and link a<4> to a piston o working in a cylinder p. The two ends of the cylinder p are connected by pipes p\ p<2> to ports m<4>, m<5> in a casing m controlled by an auxiliary valve n adapted to admit pressure admitted through ports m<1>, m<2> to one of other of the ports m<4>, m<5> while the other port is connected to the exhaust port m<6> through an annular groove n<3>, The spindle n<1> of the auxiliary valve is connected to a lever loaded by springs k, l and connected to liquid sealed bells g, h subject to air and gas pressures admitted through pipes c, d. The main valve may be actuated electrically under the control of a switch actuated by the liquid sealed bells.
