236,438. Marks, E. C. R., (Hendey Machine Co.). Nov. 18, 1924. Lathes; attachments for turning.- An attachment for a turning-lathe, particularly adapted for cutting quick-pitch threads or for rapidly feeding a wide-faced tool. comprises a housing 19 secured to the shears of the bed B by bolts and plates 20, and provided with a driving face-plate 23 retained axially by a flanged bushing 24 carrying a dead centre 27. A pinion 16 is screwed on to the nose of the live spindle 10 and is held in position by a member 17 on a bolt passing through the spindle, the lead screw 14 being driven through the usual gearing 12. The pinion 16 drives through gears 31, 32, a gear 28 secured to the face-plate, thus driving the work in the example shown at, a quarter the speed of the spindle. The gearing is protected by a shield 290, and an eyebolt 291 is provided to facilitate removal of the attachment.
