Exhaust-silencers and the like.-In a modification of the silencer described in the parent Specification, the filling F of twisted strips of flexible metal or the like is enclosed in two perforated conical or like metal shells D, E, which may be held in place by means of annular enlargements d<1>, e<1> fitting into recesses formed at the adjacent ends of the parts A, B of the silencer casing. The perforations are formed in the central zone of each of the shells D, E, and total area of the perforations in either shell is greater than the area of the silencer inlet.
