Abstract
Dichlor-N-dihydro-1 : 2 : 21 : 1-dianthraquinoneazine is obtained by chlorinating the parent dihydroazine suspended in molten sulphur at a temperature above the boiling point of disulphurdichloride and at ordinary pressure; a catalyst such as iodine or mercury chloride may be added. In an example chlorine is passed into the sulphur suspension at 210-220 DEG C. at such a rate that a large excess of disulphurdichloride is not produced; the product is boiled with sodium sulphide to remove sulphur and reduce the green chlorinated azine to the hydroazine; it differs from the known dichlor-derivative and dyes cotton from the vat, even in hard water, in bright greenish-blue shades fast to chlorine.
