Joint-making packing.-In a liquid-level indicator for boilers of the kind comprising a series of electrodes, a steam-tight join;t is maintained with each electrode by asbestos or metal rings 4 held in position by a screw 5, and the usual stuffing- box 3 and gland 6. The stuffing-box is packed with metal shavings, asbestos, &c.
