Abstract

234,593. Hodges, H. April 9, 1924. Stands.-A bicycle stand of the type in which the front wheels of alternate bicycles are held in a raised position, so that the handle-bars of adjacent cycles do not interfere with one another, comprises two sets of alternately-arranged wheelholders a, b, which are secured respectively to rails c, d and d, e, and are provided respectively with outwardly and upwardly bent upper parts a<1>, b<1> engaging the upper parts of the wheel tyres and with lower parts a<2>, b<2> pivoted to the rails c, d, the outer ends resting upon the ground or floor. The parts a<2>, b<2> are provided with stops m, k preventing backward movement of the wheels. The parts b<2> are provided with strips l, so as to serve as inclines up which the wheels are moved into position. The holders may be connected to the rails c, d, e by vertical pivots, so that they can be swung into any desired angular position relatively to the wall &c. on which the stand is erected. According to one Provisional Specification, the upper series of holders comprise pivoted frames adapted to be turned about their pivots to raise the front wheels of alternate bicycles to an elevated position.
