Abstract

234,586. Harrison, J. H., and Harrison, N. April 2, 1924. Moulds.-In a mould for casting concrete and like materials which is provided with loose liners adapted to be retracted from the moulded article on removal of the mould, compression springs g, i, Fig. 2, are provided. which tend to force the liners c, c<1> away from the moulded article, the liners being held in position by the engagement of rollers e with the highest portion of track plates d, Fig. 3. The plates d are mounted on the liners c, c<1> and are formed with inclines d<1> terminating in recesses d<2>, while the rollers e are mounted on channel bars e<1> secured to the sides a<1> of the mould and to adjustable brackets k in the case of the end liners c<1> which have projecting portions c<2> which move in slots c<3> in the side liners c. When the mould is inverted to deposit the block l, and subsequently raised, as shown in Fig. 4, the liners c, c<1> remain stationary during the preliminary lifting movement and then move away from the block under the influence of the springs g, i, the rollers e travelling upwards along the inclined faces d<1> and finally engaging the recesses d<2>. The device is applicable to moulds which are lifted away from the block without inversion and the rollers e may be carried by the liners and the tracks d bv the mould, while some of the liners may be allowed to remain in contact with the block when the mould is lifted. In lieu of rollers, plates having faces correspondingly inclined to and engaging with the faces d<1> may be employed. In a modification, rollers are dispensed with on the end liners c<1> and blocks l, l<1>, Fig. 6, having coacting inclined faces are provided on the liners c, c<1>, the inner and outer positions of the liners c, c<1> being shown in full and dotted lines. This device is preferably used in combination with rollers e and track plates d for controlling the side liners c. A protective cowling n, Fig. 3, is provided.
