Alternating-current induction machines.-In a cascade set comprising a three-phase motor V and a continuous-current motor H electrically coupled through a rotary converter U, the rotor of the induction motor is in six-phase open connection and the resistance of one phase does not exceed four times the armature resistance of the converter so that passing through synchronism is facilitated. In the example shown, the main motor and the continuous-current motor are mechanically coupled. Speed variation above and below synchronism is obtained by varying the excitation of the continuous-current motor bv means of the rheostat Rand change-over switch S. In a modification, the continuous-current motor may be coupled with a synchronous or asynchronous three-phase generator connected to the mains suppling the main motor. According to the Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a), the resistance of a rotor phase of the main motor does not exceed 0.8 times in the case of a star-connection and 2.4 times in the case of a delta connection the armature resistance of the converter. This subjectmatter does not' appear in the Specification as accepted.
