Abstract

234,363. Pillinger, H. R. Oct. 20, 1924. Body motion and weight of rider, propelling by. -In a driving-mechanism for vehicles wherein the weight and energy of the rider's body is applied to a saddle-carrying lever A and to a footlever E, these levers are pivoted respectively to the front and rear of the vehicle and are connected by a chain H, the drive being effected by a pawl-and-ratchet mechanism N, M on the rear axle K and chains O, P connected to the lever A. The chain 0 is wound around the drum L by the chain P which is attached at its other end to a tension spring Q. The chain H passes over a roller J suspended above the lever A. The depression of this lever tensions one or more strong springs D. The Provisional Specification refers also to hand-lever driving-mechanism operating two side drums on the rear axle.
