Abstract
234,307. Sunbeam Motor Car Co., Ltd., Coatalen, L., and Stevens, H. C. M. July 2, 1924. Radiators, motor-car.-A thermostat controls the flow of the water through two inlets at the top of the radiator, one leading to the usual cooling-element, and the other to a bypass which may be a hollow side wall of the radiator. The flow is directed by partitions in the top and bottom tanks, and the water leaves the by-pass by the usual outlet without previously mixing with the cooled water. A thermostat casing 11 is attached to the top of the radiator, openings 13, 14 being adapted to register with the inlets to the cooling-elements and the by-pass respectively. The path of the hot water, entering at 12, is regulated by a disc-valve 16 controlled by an expansion member 15, an adjustable or interchangeable distance piece 23 being interposed.
