476,561. Heating vehicles. METCALFE, H. May 7, 1936, No. 12942. [Class 64 (ii)] Water from the jacket a of an internalcombustion engine passes, when the thermostatic valve c<1> is closed, into rising pipe f, and siphon g to heating pipes h on the upper deck of a motor vehicle, and thence by siphon i to heating pipes k on the lower deck. The water returns to the inlet side of the circulating pump e. When increase in temperature opens the valve c<1>, the water circuit through the heating system is broken at the siphon g by the return of the water in the pipe f to the radiator and the normal cooling system including the radiator b then operates. When the temperature falls sufficiently, the valve c<1> closes, and pressure in the system due to the pump e again forces water up the riser f. Specification 218,041, [Class 79 (iii)], is referred to.
