Condensers. - In electric condensers of fixed capacity in which the plate elements and dielectric sheets are pressed together in a tightly fitting casing, either at least one wall of the casing, or the plates are initially formed with a camber so that, in assembling, the casing and plates first abut at the centre and are then forced flat against each other. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, circular plates 1 disposed between insulating sheets 2, 5 are clamped between metal discs 3, the discs 3 having initially an inward camber but being flattened during assembly by swaging clamps 4 embracing the edges of the discs 3. In a modification, rectangular plates are assembled, together with the dielectric, in a tubular casing 8, Fig. 8, the back of which is inwardly cambered, the front being closed either by the overturned edges of the casing or, as shown, by a plate 9. The plate 9 may also be initially cambered, and, if desired, the casing may be formed by two curved plates 9, Fig. 10, embraced by clamps 10. In a further form, the casing is in the form of a cylindrical box having an inwardly cambered lid clamped down by inturned lugs projecting from the rim of the box.
