Abstract

248,398. Dubilier Condenser Co. (1925), Ltd., (Assignees of Deventer, H. R. van). Feb. 28, 1925, [Convention date]. Condensers of the fixed type are made so that their capacity is adjusted to the right setting preparatory to leaving the factory and, when once set, is not intended to be changed. The circular plate 1 is apertured centrally at 2 and radially at 3 at an equal distance from the centre and at an equal distance apart. The periphery is slitted and the sections are bent alternately from side to side to form flanges 5, 6, one of which has an elongation 7 serving as a terminal. The flanges locate and protect the dielectric discs 9 having a central aperture 10 registering with the aperture 2. Bearing against the discs 9 are concave plates 11 having apertures 12, 13 corresponding with those 2, 3 and the whole is secured by a rivet 14 carrying a washer 15, the rivet 14 being turned over a terminal 16 so as to compress the concave plates. Maximum capacity is obtained when the apertures 3, 13 are in alignment, and other settings are obtained by more or less misaligning them by inserting a tool in the open. ings 13 of one or both plates 11 and turning them to the required extent.
