Cam-and-lever actuated pumps ; timing devices ; relief valves; regulating delivery by bypasses.-In a fuel pump comprising suction and delivery valves 2, 3 and a, relief valve 4, the plunger is actuated by a cam 25 and a lever 21 with an eccentric fulcrum 22, which may be adjusted to vary the movement of injection of the fuel. Deliverv is controlled by a by-pass valve 14 operated through a plunger 20 by a tappet 29 carried by a lever 26 pivoted at 27 on the lever 21. An arm 26<a> of the lever engages a arm surface 28 which may be moved longitudinally by the governor to adjust the lever 26 on its pivot and thereby vary the period of opening of the valve 14. The tappet 29 is carried by a screw 30 which may be adjusted in the lever arm 31, and a further adjustment may be made by means of a hand lever 84 carrying an eccentric 33 engaging a screw 32 in the lever 26.
