Abstract
233,254. Brandwood, J., Stocker, A., and Twyver Works, Ltd. Nov. 15, 1924. No Patent granted (Scaling fee not paid). Screw and worm conveyers intended particularly for conveying material from the pulp press to a disintegrator in the manufacture of artificial silk, comprise three conveyers 15 mounted at the bottom of a wooden chamber 4 of which the outer conveyers rotate in one direction and the central conveyer in the opposite direction. Material fed into the chamber 4 is directed by baffles 26 on to the outer conveyers which feed it in the direction of the arrows, Fig. 1. The plates 25 at the ends of these conveyers then transfer it to the central conveyer which forwards it to the casing 7 whence it falls through the aperture 8 to the disintegrator. Each conveyer comprises a shaft 14, a wooden cylinder 15, and a continuous metal spiral 16 having a toothed edge 17. Wood blocks 27, 28 covered with tinplate are placed in the corners of the chamber and between the conveyers. The baffle 26 is covered with tinplate.
