Abstract

233,092. Robertson, T., and Chisholm, W. C. March 7, 1924. Direct steam pressure apparatus.-Apparatus for transferring liquid from one vessel to another particularly intended for feeding water to steam boilers, comprises liquid supply and receiving vessels 1, 4, a passage 5 connecting the vessels, a sleeve 6 extending through the passage and through the vessels and a liquid container which is so reciprocated as to convey liquid from one vessel to the other, ,the liquid flowing into and out of the container through ports 9, 10 in the sleeve. The receiving vessel is connected by pipes 7, 8 to the steam and water spaces of a boiler A. The steam pipe is fitted with a diaphragm having a small orifice. A rod 11 reciprocated in the sleeve by a cross-head 13 has a reduced end forming a liquid container. The reduced end is surrounded by a spiral spring 17 held in compression by a nut 18 on the end of the rod. The apparatus may be automatically controlled in accordance with the boiler water level.
