Abstract
517.045. Domestic water heating systems. DARBY, H. G. July 16, 1938, No. 21172. [Class 64 (i)] In a water heating system with a hot-water storage tank 5 partitioned to form a cold water chamber 18 to which water is supplied through a ball cock 20, water flows from the chamber 18, through a pipe 24, passing through the storage tank and opening into a conical projection 25 on the end of the return pipe 16 connecting the storage chamber to the boiler. The cold water chamber may be formed separately from the storage tank and supported therein by a cross bar and by flanges engaging the top of the tank. The cold water feed pipe 24 may be coiled and its upper end may be directly below a drop pipe 23 on the ball cock 20. The chamber may extend from front to rear of the tank and partly across it.
