Steam-generator furnaces.-A boiler comprises horizontally arranged water-tubes with connections for causing the steam and water to flow upwardly through the tubes in series, means for directing the hot gases downwardly over the tubes, a feed-tank placed below the tubes, a steam and water drum placed at or above the level of the tube, means for forcing water from the tank through the tubes and means for returning water from the drum to the tank. Groups of U-shaped water tubes 33 are connected to superposed horizontal headers 30. The gases from burners 27 are directed by a baffle wall 29 downwardly over the tubes between the baffle wall and the headers. The furnace may be coal fired, or it may be adapted to burn oil or powdered fuel or both. The bent ends of the tubes may be supported by members projecting from the baffle wall and may have spacing bars placed between the branches.
