Rafts.-Rafts comprise one or more sealed metal tanks a stiffened by longitudinal fore and aft partitions and enclosed in a wooden casing d the edges e of which are chamfered and are united by a median piece f through which are passed the life lines g. The form of the chamfer is maintained and lateral shifting of the metal tanks prevented by filling pieces h, and to facilitate stacking of the rafts, the tops are provided with bosses k which are adapted to engage with recesses in the bottom of the adjacent raft.
